A Long Overdue Update

An update on my book (and my life)

A Long Overdue Update

It’s been a while since I sent an update about my new book, “THE DUNGEON MASTER'S ULTIMATE CAMPAIGN BLUEPRINT FOR DUNGEONS & DRAGONS.”

Apologies for being away so long. Some things have changed in my life and I wanted to let you know about it.

Almost a month ago, on October 30, I lost my job. Ironically, this was one day before my projected release date for the book: October 31.

Well…

As I reflect on 2023, I realize a lot has changed since January.

And, recently losing my 9-5 has given me time to reflect on what I want to do next.

Spoiler alert: I’m working on it.

But, to be completely honest, I’m worried about money.

I mean, who wouldn’t worry about steady income suddenly drying up?

I have a wife and 3 kids so they need to come first.

But, if I don’t take care of myself first, how can I put them first?

What an ironic paradox. Isn’t it?

Anyway, these are some of the things I’m dealing with and I wanted to let you know.

Yesterday, I had lunch with my friend James. He’s going through something similar as he’s “between jobs” at the moment too.

But, less than 24 hours ago he said to me point blank, “You need to finish the book.”

“I know,” I said. “But not right now…”

As of this very moment, I’ve written 40,549 words for the DM Blueprint book.

That blows me away, but it’s far from done.

It needs more substance on how to actually be a great DM because much of it is me telling stories about growing up as a fantasy geek and how I dealt with being a DM.

I also mentioned this in a previous update but instead of rehashing all that, go watch this video from 3 months ago if you want to get up-to-speed.

In closing, I just wanted to say thank you!

Thanks for being here.

Thanks for your patience as I work through my personal issues.

And thank you for your interest in my creative endeavors. It means a lot to me.

I’ll send another update by Friday of this week.

Hot reply and say, “hello.” I’d love to here from you.

Happy gaming!

-Joe

P.S. I need to call out a very special “thank you” to Jason Pike. Jason was the first person to pre-order my book. Thanks Jason! He’s also a really cool guy and I’m thankful we share the same real world. Maybe I’ll get to play D&D with him one day. 😀

P.P.S. Thanks to my newest subscriber! You know who you are!
